The Communist Party of India (CPI) is the oldest communist party in India.
The CPI was founded in modern-day Kanpur on 26 December 1925.

Malayapuram Singaravelu from madras became one of the founding fathers of the Communist Party of India.

On this day, M. N. Roy, Evelyn Trent-Roy, Abani Mukherji, Rosa Fitingov, Mohd. Ali, Mohamad Shafiq, and M. P. T. Acharya met in Tashkent, the Capital of Uzbekistan, to form the communist movement in India.
