This day marks the birth anniversary of Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, who was born on April 14, 1891.
He is the principal architect of the Indian Constitution and also the first Law Minister of Independent India, a jurist, economist, and social reformer.
The first observance of this day held in Pune by Janardan Sadashiv Ranapisay on April 14, 1928.
In recognition of his contributions, Dr. Ambedkar was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1990.
