A new study, “Governance and resilience as entry points for transforming food systems in the countdown to 2030”, was published in Nature Food.
It tracks 42 global food system indicators across five themes.
Twenty of the 42 metrics analysed over time have improved.
Notable achievements include significant increases in access to safe water and the availability of vegetables.
Conservation of plant and animal genetic resources has also risen.
Strengthening the resilience of the food systems to the climate shocks and other disruptions also improved.
The Food price volatility is deteriorating government accountability, and reduced civil society participation and other 4 indicators show significant decline.
15 indicators including the ultra-processed food sales, food systems emissions, agriculture water withdrawal showed no change.
