  • The statistics ministry has released a detailed annual modular survey (July 2022-June 2023).
  • The average out-of-pocket medical expenditure per household on hospitalisation during the past 365 days in rural and urban areas has been estimated at Rs 4,129 and Rs 5,290.
  • The average out-of-pocket medical expenses per household for non-hospitalization treatments in the past 30 days were Rs 539 in rural areas and Rs 606 in urban areas.
  • Approximately 96.9% of those in the 15-24 years age group were able to read and write simple statements and able to perform simple arithmetic calculations.
  • In the same age group, the figure was around 97.8% for males and 95.9% for females.
  • 23.3% of those in the 15-24 age group were not in education, employment or training.
  • 95.1% of households had a telephone or mobile connection while 9.9% had computers.
  • About 95.7% of those in 15-24 years age bracket in rural areas can use mobile phones, in urban areas it was 97%.
