Researchers spotted a large-sized adult antlion, palpares contrarius in Chennai.
Though it looks like a dragonfly, it has an antenna and a distinct fluttering flight which separates it from them.
Antlions are found mostly in Africa, Myanmar, Thailand, and Sri Lanka and are seen in isolated parts of India such as Odisha, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Mizoram, Uttarakhand, and Madhya Pradesh.
The incidence of palpares contrarius in MCC is a new record in Tamil Nadu.
