  • The Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) 2024 was released by the NGO Pratham Foundation.
  • The percentage of Class 3 children who can perform at least subtraction at the basic arithmetic level was 33.7% in 2024, up from 25.9% in 2022.
  • The percentage of Class 5 children who can now read a text at the Class 2 level was 44.8% in 2024, up from 38.5% in 2022.
  • From 72.4% in 2018 to 73% in 2022 to 75.9% in 2024, the average student attendance rose.
  • Meanwhile, from 85.1% in 2018, the average teacher attendance rose to 86.8% in 2022 and 87.5% in 2024.
  • From 44% in 2022 to 52.1% in 2024, the percentage of government primary schools with less than 60 enrolled kids increased significantly.
  • Among the older teenagers aged 14 years to 16 years, 89% have access to the smartphones at home.
  • Among 3-year-olds, enrollment in pre-primary institutions increased from 68.1% in 2018 to 75.8% in 2022 to 77.4% in 2024.
  • Among 4-year-olds, the All-India figure for enrollment in pre-primary institutions increased from 76% in 2018 to 82% in 2022 to 83.3% in 2024.
  • Among 5-year-olds, this figure also showed big increases, rising from 58.5% in 2018 to 62.2% in 2022 to 71.4% in 2024.
  • Across all states, enrolment of 6-14 age group is above 95% in 2024.
  • By 2024, the all-India level Government school enrolment declined to 66.8%.
  • The proportion of 15-16-year-old children who are not enrolled in school 7.9% in 2024 at all-India level.
  • The fraction of schools with useable girls’ toilets increased from 66.4% in 2018 to 68.4% in 2022 to 72% in 2024.
  • In 2024, 66.2% schools have a playground, similar to 68.9% in 2022 and 66.5% in 2018.
