The United Nation launched the Secretary-General’s Common Pledge on Women’s Participation in Peace Processes.
It is a new initiative to strengthen the role of women in making and building peace worldwide.
According to UN Women data for 2023, women, on average, made up less than 10 per cent of peace negotiators and 13.5 per cent of mediators.
This Common Pledge asks the Member States, regional organizations and other actors actively engaged in mediation to join the UN in taking concrete steps to boost women’s participation in peace processes.
