It is also known as Samvidhan Divas.
This day marks the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1949, which came into effect on January 26, 1950.
The provisions relating to citizenship, elections, provisional parliament, temporary and transitional provisions were also got immediate effect from November 26, 1949.
The framing of the Constitution took over 2 years, 11 months and 18 days.
This day also coincides with birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar.
