- The Government has made amendments to the Environment Relief Fund Scheme, 2008, through the Environment Relief Fund (Amendment) Scheme, 2024.
- It aims to improve the fund management, ensure the efficient disbursement, and enhance environmental restoration efforts.
- The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has appointed as Fund Manager for five years.
- It will get funds from the Compensation under Section 24 of the National Green Tribunal Act, 2010 and Penalties under Sections 14, 15, or 17 of the Public Liability Insurance Act.
