This year, the world is commemorating the 79^th anniversary of the day.
It observes the tragic anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Japan, by the United States during World War II in 1945.
The bombing, conducted by the B-29 bomber, nicknamed “Little Boy,” exploded approximately 600 meters above Hiroshima.
The explosion resulted in the deaths of an estimated 140,000 people.
