- IIT-Madras has filed 417 patents in 2024-25, including 298 Indian patents and 119 international patents.
- The institute has filed 39 designs, six copyrights, and one trademark, bringing the total number of IP filings to 463.
- In the last five years, the institute had developed and transferred emerging high-impact technologies through more than 50 licencing deals worth ₹28 crore to industry partners.
- In the last five years, the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) of the institute has doubled the licencing revenue and tripled the number of IPs licensed.
