Indian Coast Guard (ICG) celebrated its 49th Raising Day on February 01.
This force came into being on August 18, 1978, as a result of the Coast Guard Act of 1978.
The objectives of this force included the protection of India’s sea-based borders, search and rescue missions, and tackling smugglers and illegal actions in the Indian Ocean.
It takes measures to mitigate marine pollution, dumping of waste materials, oil spills, etc.
