- India’s retail inflation eased to a seven-month low of 3.61 per cent in February 2025, down from 4.31 per cent in January.
- This brings the inflation below the RBI’s medium-term target of 4 per cent for the first time since August 2024.
- The Consumer Price Index (CPI)-based inflation remained well within the RBI’s tolerance band of 2-6 per cent.
- Rural food inflation stood at 4.06 per cent, while urban food inflation was 3.20 per cent.
- Overall rural inflation dropped to 3.79 per cent in February from 4.59 per cent in January.
- Urban inflation also saw a decline from 3.87 per cent to 3.32 per cent.
- India’s industrial output growth picked up to 5 per cent year-on-year in January 2025, compared to 3.2 per cent in December 2024.
