- IUCN released ‘Guidance on Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECMs) report.
- This report provides the critical guidance on conserving land, water, and coastal areas through OECMs.
- It will support to achieve Target 3 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF) 2022 to conserve 30% of these areas by 2030.
- The OECMs aren't the formal protected areas (PAs) but contribute to biodiversity conservation.
- India hosts around 14 Other Effective Area-Based Conservation area.
