- The Tamil Nadu government has revoked the market cess of 1% being levied on maize.
- It is made under the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation) Act- 1987.
- Maize is also cultivated in about 4 lakh hectares across Tamil Nadu and the production is about 29 lakh MT.
