- NASA’s Parker Solar Probe is making the very closest approach to the Sun ever recorded by a human-made object.
- The probe has passed just 6.1 million kilometres (3.8 million miles) above the Sun’s surface.
- The Parker Solar Probe was launched in 2018 to get a close-up look at the sun.
- Parker got more than seven times closer to the sun than previous spacecraft, traveling at a maximum speed of about 430,000 mph.
