- The DRDO successfully completed the flight tests of guided Pinaka multi-barrel rocket (MBRL) system.
- This enhances the range of the Pinaka to over 75km.
- Currently, there are two types of this system.
- The first is Mark I, with a range of 40 kilometers, and the second is Mark II, with a range of 75 kilometers.
- Eventually, the plan is to take up the range to 120 km and then to 300 km.
- It can fire all 12 rockets in salvo mode in just 44 seconds, with a rocket launched every 4 seconds.
- The Pinaka rocket launcher is considered to be equivalent to the US Himer's system.
- The first order for it was placed by Armenia.
- Now France has also shown interest in this rocket system.
