President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Prime Minister’s National Award on 17 children, in seven categories.
It celebrates extraordinary accomplishments in seven categories: art and culture, bravery, innovation, science and technology, social service, sports and environment.
The awardees — seven boys and 10 girls — were selected from 14 States and union territories.
Sindhoora Raja (15) from Tamil Nadu was awarded for creating self-stabilising devices for Parkinson’s patients.
Janane Narayanan (14) – the Carnatic music student from Chengalpattu also received this award.
In 2023-24, she got the Kalaimamani Award instituted by the Tamil Nadu government.
