ISRO has achieved a significant milestone with the successful demonstration of restarting its Vikas liquid engine.
The Vikas engine, a very reliable workhorse for powering the liquid stages of Isro's launch vehicles, is being refined to enable stage recovery and reusability.
In the very latest test, the engine was fired for 60 seconds before being shut off for 120 seconds.
It was then successfully restarted and fired again for seven seconds.
