Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli has announced that the T20 World Cup final triumph against South Africa was his last in the format.
Rohit becomes only the third Indian captain to have won a World Cup – across formats – after Kapil Dev (1983) and MS Dhoni (2007 and 2011).
He has now become the first-ever captain to lead a team to 50 T20I games.
The 50^th triumph is being the World Cup final against South Africa.
He has also scored five T20I hundreds, the most in the format alongside Australia’s Glenn Maxwell.
Kohli played 125 T20I matches in his career, scoring 4188 runs at an average of 48.69 and a strike rate of 137.04.
He is the second-highest scorer in the format.
He also finishes his career at the top of the run scorers’ charts in T20 World Cups.
He remains the only player to have been the highest run scorer in two different T20 World Cups.
He was also named in the ICC Men's T20I Team of the Decade from 2011 to 2020.
