Ropeway projects in Uttarakhand

- The union cabinet has approved the two major ropeway projects - Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib Ji (12.4 km) and Sonprayag to Kedarnath (12.9 km)- in Uttarakhand.
- It is expected to be built at a cost of ₹7,000 crore under the National Ropeways Development Programme, Parvatmala Pariyojana.
- The ropeways will cut the travel time to the pilgrimage sites situated over 3,500 metres above sea level.
