- The United Nations (UN) General Assembly overwhelmingly approved resolutions demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
- It was adopted with 158 votes in favour including India and got nine votes against with 13 abstentions.
- It expressed support for the work of the UN’s agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA).
- For the first time, Germany and Italy, who abstained last December, have voted in favour of a Gaza ceasefire.
