- The Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat was disqualified before the women's 50kg freestyle final at the Paris Olympics after failing to make weight.
- The disqualification means Phogat will not receive a medal.
- In the event of a disqualification of a finalist, no silver medal is awarded and the gold goes to the other finalist.
- Vinesh had scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman wrestler to reach the gold medal bout.
- Vinesh was found to be 100 grams over the weight limit during the morning weigh-in.
- As per the United World Wrestling's rule book’s Article 11, "If an athlete does not attend or fail the weigh-in, he/she will be eliminated of the competition and ranked last, without rank."
