- China has completed the construction of the world's very longest express tunnel through the Tianshan Mountains.
- The Tianshan Shengli Tunnel is just over 22 kilometers (14 miles) and will reduce the travel time through the mountain range in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, from three hours to only 20 minutes.
- It is one of the longest stretches of mountains in the world.
