6."You Are Your Own King" Scheme

Aim:

  • The "You Are Your Own King" scheme aims to empower youth in Tamil Nadu by revitalizing traditional arts, promoting skill development, and facilitating employment opportunities.

Ministry/Department:

  • Implemented by the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation under the leadership of Minister Udhayanidhi on December 01, 2023.

Beneficiaries:

  • Youth: Particularly those interested in traditional arts and crafts across various regions of Tamil Nadu.

Key Features of the Scheme:

  • Revival of Traditional Arts: Focuses on preserving and promoting Tamil Nadu's traditional arts and crafts that are at risk of fading away.
  • Entrepreneurship Promotion: Encourages youth passionate about arts to become entrepreneurs in their respective crafts.
  • Skill Training Programs: Offers specialized training in diverse traditional arts including woodwork, Thanjavur dolls and painting, palm leaf art, sea shell art, clay and paper art, pottery, handloom dyeing, Pathamadai mat making, and more.
  • Employment Opportunities: Provides employment orders and job placements to trained youth, fostering economic independence and sustainability.
  • Financial Support: Includes a monthly stipend of 12,500 for trainees along with various subsidies to support their skill development journey.

Implementation Details:

  • Launch Event: Inaugurated by Minister Udhayanidhi at Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai, highlighting the scheme's focus on traditional arts and crafts.
  • Partnerships: Memorandums of understanding signed with organizations like Johnson Electric, Bose Limited, NLC, and Nettur Technical Training Foundation to enhance skill development and employment prospects.
  • Technology Integration: Utilizes the "Naan Mudhalvan" website with an AI chatbot named "Ilaya" and a dedicated helpline to provide accurate guidance on job opportunities and skill training.

 

7."Imaigal Scheme"

Launched on:

  • June 23, 2023.

Aim:

  • The "Imaigal" scheme aims to protect girl children from sexual crimes by establishing a comprehensive operational framework within the Tamil Nadu Police Northern Zone.

Ministry/Department:

  • Implemented by the Tamil Nadu Police Northern Zone, under the leadership of Inspector General (IG) Kannan.

Beneficiaries:

  • Girl Children: Particularly in districts covered by the Northern Zone, including Chennai, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, and Vellore.

Key Features of the Scheme:

  • Operational System: Establishes a permanent operational system dedicated to protecting girl children from sexual crimes.
  • Collaboration: Engages with other government departments to enhance protection measures and ensure coordinated responses to cases.
  • Legal Support: Ensures proper registration of cases, proactive investigation, and filing of charge sheets within 60 days for swift justice.
  • Victim Support: Provides compensation and rehabilitation for victims, focusing on their physical and mental well-being.
  • Awareness Programs: Conducts awareness initiatives through school and college interactions, street plays, and distribution of pamphlets to educate communities about safeguarding girl children.
  • Medical and Counselling Services: Promises quick medical treatment by specialized doctors and mental health counselling for affected children.

Implementation Details:

  • Inauguration: Officially launched by Director General of Police (DGP) Shailendra Babu, underscoring its significance in protecting girl children.
  • Public Engagement: Emphasizes the role of police as guardians (Imaigal) of girl children through community engagement activities.
  • Comprehensive Support: Focuses not only on immediate legal and medical responses but also on long-term rehabilitation and psychological support.

 

8.Model School Scheme

Date:

Aim:

  • The Model School Scheme in Tamil Nadu aims to elevate educational standards by establishing 32 model schools across the state.
  • These schools are intended to serve as benchmarks for excellence in education, incorporating modern facilities and innovative teaching methods.

Ministry/Department:

  • Implemented by the School Education Department of Tamil Nadu, with support from central government funding.

Beneficiaries:

  • Students: Across various districts of Tamil Nadu, benefiting from enhanced educational facilities and quality of teaching.
  • Teachers: Provided with opportunities for professional development and access to modern teaching resources.

Key Features of the Scheme:

  • Modern Facilities: Each model school will be equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, including classrooms, laboratories, libraries, and sports facilities.

  • Transformation: State Women's Higher Secondary School in Egmore, Chennai, selected as the first school to be transformed into a model school, showcasing the initiative's launch.

 

9.Neengal Nalama Scheme

Aim:

  • The Neengal Nalama scheme, launched by the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin, aims to bridge the gap between the government and the public by actively gathering feedback on welfare schemes.
  • It focuses on ensuring that government initiatives reach the intended beneficiaries effectively and improve the overall quality of public services.

Ministry/Department:

  • Operated under the Chief Minister's Office of Tamil Nadu, this scheme involves various government departments responsible for implementing welfare schemes across the state.

Beneficiaries:

  • Public: Citizens of Tamil Nadu who are beneficiaries of government welfare schemes, including the "Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam," "Pudhumai Penn Thittam," "Naan Mudhalvan Thittam," "Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme," among others.
  • Government Departments: Receives valuable feedback to enhance service delivery and ensure schemes' effectiveness.

Key Features of the Scheme:

  • Feedback Collection: Facilitates direct communication with beneficiaries through personal phone calls from the Chief Minister to gather opinions and suggestions.
  • Transparency: Establishes a dedicated website "Neengal Nalama" where feedback and comments are uploaded, promoting transparency and public engagement.
  • Improvement of Services: Uses feedback to take corrective measures and ensure that welfare benefits are accessible and impactful.
  • Comprehensive Information: Provides detailed information about all government schemes on the website for public awareness and accessibility.

Implementation Details:

  • Launch: Inaugurated on 6th March 2024 by the Chief Minister from his camp office, highlighting its importance in governance and citizen engagement.
  • Feedback Mechanism: Initially focuses on gathering feedback from beneficiaries of key welfare schemes, gradually expanding to cover other government services.
  • Public Participation: Encourages active participation from the public in sharing their experiences and suggestions through the online platform.

Impact and Future Plans:

  • Enhanced Governance: Aims to strengthen governance by addressing gaps in service delivery based on real-time feedback.
  • Continuous Improvement: Plans to evolve based on ongoing feedback to ensure continuous enhancement of welfare schemes and public services.

 

10.Tholkudi thittam

  • The inauguration ceremony was held in March 2024 at Namakkal.

Ministry or Nodal Agency:

  • Tamil Nadu Tribal Welfare Department

Aim:

  • The aim of the Tholkudi scheme is to develop tribal communities by establishing basic infrastructure facilities and providing educational and training opportunities.

Beneficiary:

  • The primary beneficiaries of this scheme are tribal students and communities in Tamil Nadu.

Eligibility:

  • Tribal students receiving special classes and training.
  • Students aiming to pursue higher education in engineering, medicine, and other fields.
  • Students who wish to study abroad as part of the special scheme.

 

11.Extended Vidiyal Payanam thittam

Ministry or Nodal Agency:

  • Extended in 2024 March by the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation

Aim:

  • To provide free bus travel for women, thereby enhancing their mobility and empowerment.

Beneficiary:

  • Women, including college students, in the hilly areas of Nilgiris, Kodaikanal, Valparai, Yercaud, and Karumandurai.

Eligibility:

  • Women residing in the specified areas.
  • College students in these regions.
  • The scheme covers 65 villages in Yercaud Hills and 98 villages in Karumandurai Hills.

 

12.Punnagai thittam

Ministry or Nodal Agency:

  • Tamil Nadu Health Department
  • Tamil Nadu School Education Department

Aim:

  • Launched in 2023 March at Chennai Nandanam Government Model School.
  • To ensure the dental health of students by providing dental treatment and creating awareness about oral diseases.

Beneficiary:

  • School children, specifically students in grades six to eight, across Tamil Nadu.

Eligibility:

  • Students from grades six to eight.
  • Over four lakh students in Tamil Nadu will receive dental examinations and treatment.
  • The scheme addresses common oral health issues such as tooth decay and gum problems.
