61. 'e-Munnetraam' and 'IT Nanban' Websites

Ministry or Nodal Agency:

  • Tamil Nadu Department of Information Technology.

Aim:

  • To enhance transparency and efficiency in monitoring major infrastructure projects and to gather public feedback on IT-related policies.

Beneficiary:

  • Government officials, IT professionals, and the general public of Tamil Nadu.

Eligibility:

  • All residents and stakeholders involved in infrastructure and IT sectors in Tamil Nadu.

Additional Information:

  • Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has inaugurated the ‘e-Munnetraam’ and ‘IT Nanban’ websites developed by the Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency.

e-Munnetraam:

  • The 'e-Munnetraam' website was created to monitor the progress of 200 key infrastructure projects worth 1 lakh crore, overseen by a high-level committee led by the Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu.
  • The website includes details about project descriptions, contract dates, start dates, locations, financial status, monthly progress reports, and photographs.
  • It allows for the monitoring of various government departments' activities.

IT Nanban:

  • The 'IT Nanban' website serves as a feedback platform for information technology-related issues.
  • It helps IT groups contribute to policy-making by providing their inputs.
  • Users can view government orders and contract details released by the IT department.
  • The website offers a facility to post opinions on key issues and current policies, with solutions sent via email.
  • It is designed to enhance transparency and facilitate trade growth.

Tamil Software:

  • The Tamil Virtual Academy has upgraded two previously released Tamil software tools:
  • The 'Computer Keyboard' and 'Tamil Nadu Unicode Converter,' was renamed as 'Keezhadi-TamilNadu Keyboard' and 'Tamizhi-Tamil Nadu Unicode Converter.'
  • These software tools are available for free download on the Tamil Virtual Academy website.

62. Tamil Nadu Kalaignar Sports Kit Scheme

Launch Date:

  • 07-02-2024.

Ministry or Nodal Agency:

  • Tamil Nadu government's Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department.

Aim:

  • To provide free sports equipment to encourage and prepare athletes for national and international sports events, with a focus on supporting rural athletes.

Beneficiary:

  • Students and athletes of Tamil Nadu.

Eligibility:

  • The beneficiary must be an athlete at the district/state/national level.
  • The athlete must be a permanent resident of Tamil Nadu.
  • The beneficiary must be an athlete residing in a rural area.

Additional Information:

  • Free sports equipment will be provided for the following sports:
  • Cricket
  • Football
  • Volleyball
  • Silambam
  • Handball
  • For information about the Kalaignar Sports Kit Scheme, contact the village panchayat office or the district office of the Tamil Nadu government's Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department.
  • Under the Kalaignar Sports Kit Scheme, free sports equipment will be provided to students and athletes from 12,000 village panchayats in Tamil Nadu.
  • Each village panchayat in Tamil Nadu will receive a kit comprising 33 physical exercise and sports equipment under the Kalaignar Sports Kit Scheme.
  • Application forms for this scheme will be available at the village panchayat office.
  • Beneficiaries can apply to receive free sports kits under the Kalignar Sports Kit Scheme through this form.

63. People's Outreach Healthcare Service Scheme

Launch Date:

  • February 05, 2024.

Aim:

  • To introduce the ‘Community Health Laboratory Service’ project, allowing primary health centres to conduct tests for 63 types of samples and obtain results, thereby reducing the need for people to visit medical colleges and hospitals for these tests.

Beneficiary: 

  • Residents of Tamil Nadu who require laboratory tests and services.

Eligibility: 

  • Residents of Tamil Nadu who visit primary health centres for laboratory tests.

Additional Information: 

  • The inauguration of the project took place at the Government Urban Primary Health Centre in Thollavilai, Nagercoil Municipal Corporation.
  • Tamil Nadu has 2,686 primary and urban health centres, each equipped with 29 types of laboratory facilities.
  • The new facility aims to provide a comprehensive testing service at the primary health centres, which is being introduced for the first time in Tamil Nadu.

64. Thiranari Thervu Thittam Scheme

Launch Date:

  • 18th April 2024.

Ministry or Nodal Agency:

  • Government of Tamil Nadu.

Aim:

  • To encourage government school students to pursue careers in electronic sciences and provide financial assistance for their education.

Beneficiary:

  • Students of Tamil Nadu, particularly those from rural government schools interested in electronic sciences.

Eligibility:

  • Students must be from the state of Tamil Nadu.
  • Preference is given to students attending remote government schools.
  • The applicant should have an interest in fields like semiconductor technologies and electronics.
  • Students currently enrolled in the 10th grade are also eligible.

Features and Benefits:

  • The scheme was introduced by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin during the inauguration of IIT-Madras's outreach program.
  • IIT-Madras will support 100,000 students annually through lectures and hands-on training for students in grades 9 through 12.
  • Selected students will receive a monthly stipend of 1,000, amounting to 12,000 annually for their undergraduate and graduate studies.
  • The program aims to ensure that students in government schools receive similar opportunities and personalized instruction as their counterparts in private institutions.
  • The scheme will particularly encourage female students to pursue higher education.
  • It targets the entire state of Tamil Nadu and aims to brighten the future of the students involved.

  • Proof of interest or engagement in electronic sciences or related fields.

Additional Information

  • The Thiranari Thervu Thittam Scheme was launched to support and educate government school students from rural areas, encouraging them to pursue careers in electronic sciences.

65. Verkalai Thedi scheme

  • Department of Welfare of Non-Resident Tamils, Tamil Nadu Government.

Aim:

  • To reconnect Tamil diaspora youth with their cultural roots in Tamil Nadu, and to enhance cultural ties and understanding between Tamil Nadu and the global Tamil diaspora.

Beneficiary:

  • Youth of Tamil origin aged 18 to 30 living abroad.

Eligibility:

  • Youth of Tamil origin residing in foreign countries.
  • Age between 18 and 30 years.

Features and Benefits:

  • The program organizes a cultural tour of Tamil Nadu for Tamil youth from abroad.
  • Participants will visit historically significant and culturally rich sites in Tamil Nadu.
  • The tour is funded by the Tamil Nadu government, covering travel and accommodation expenses.
  • The first journey of the scheme started from Mamallapuram, with participants visiting various locations such as Tanjore, Sivagangai, Tuticorin, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Madurai, Trichy, Senji Fort, and Kanchipuram.
  • Participants will gain insights into Tamil architecture, sculpture, music, dance, painting, freedom struggle history, and Tamil literature.
  • The program includes discussions and training sessions with Tamil scholars and researchers.

Additional Information:

  • The Tamil Nadu government announced the scheme to protect the welfare of Tamils living abroad and to guide those migrating from Tamil Nadu for education or employment.
  • The scheme was officially launched by the Tamil Nadu Minister for Welfare of Non-Resident Tamils, Senji K.S. Mastan.
  • A total of 58 young Tamils from countries like Australia, Canada, Fiji, and Sri Lanka were selected for the first tour.
  • The "Ayalagath Tamilarkal Nalan" day is celebrated annually on January 11 and 12 to unite Tamils living abroad.
  • This program aims to foster a deep connection with Tamil heritage and encourage participants to act as cultural ambassadors for Tamil culture in their respective countries.
