- A Rare "Ring of Fire" Solar Eclipse event witnessed on Western Hemisphere.
- Since the moon is so distant, it did not cover the Sun completely, creating a "ring of fire" effect.
- An annular solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between Earth and the sun at a time when the moon is at or close to its farthest point from our planet.
- It does not completely obscure the face of the sun, unlike in a total solar eclipse.
- Instead, it creates the image of a brilliant ring on the outlines of the sun surrounding the dark disc of the moon.
- A total eclipse took place in 2017 in the United States.
- After next April's total eclipse, there will not be another until 2044.
- The next annular eclipse will be in 2046.
