1,000 lakes in Swiss Alps

  • The Melting of glaciers in Swiss Alps have created more than 1,000 new lakes across the mountains.
  • This is because of rapid climate change.
  • Since the end of the Little Ice Age around 1850, these lakes were created.
  • Little Ice Age (LIA) is the climate interval that occurred from the early 14th century through the mid-19th century.
