Nation paid homage to great revolutionary, Shaheed Udham Singh, a well-known freedom fighter on his 120th birth anniversary being celebrated on 26 December 2019.
He was born on this day in 1899 in Sangrur district of Punjab.
He belonged to Ghadar party.
He was present in Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar on the fateful Baisakhi festival (festival of harvest) on 13 April 1919.
General Dyer opened fire without any warning on unarmed crowd.
Many people lost their lives in that horrific massacre.
He was best known for avenging the Jallianwala Bagh massacre by assassinating Michael O’ Dwyer in March 1940 and was hanged by British in London.
