Jagdeep Dhankar has been elected as the 14th Vice President of India.
He got 528 votes (72.8%) against Opposition Candidate Margaret Alva's 182.
He bettered his predecessor Naidu's 2017 performance by 2%, who had secured 346 votes was the highest in the last six vice-presidential polls since 1997.
The record for Vice Presidential win with highest margin remains with KR Narayanan, who won in 1992.
He had secured 700 of the 701 votes cast against independent candidate Kaka Joginder Singh.
He will take oath as India’s Vice President by the President of India on 11th August 2022.
He had earlier served as the Governor of West Bengal.
