- Jagdeep Dhankar has been elected as the 14th Vice President of India.
- He got 528 votes (72.8%) against Opposition Candidate Margaret Alva's 182.
- He bettered his predecessor Naidu's 2017 performance by 2%, who had secured 346 votes was the highest in the last six vice-presidential polls since 1997.
- The record for Vice Presidential win with highest margin remains with KR Narayanan, who won in 1992.
- He had secured 700 of the 701 votes cast against independent candidate Kaka Joginder Singh.
- He will take oath as India’s Vice President by the President of India on 11th August 2022.
- He had earlier served as the Governor of West Bengal.
