- 16th BRICS Summit was held in Kazan, Russia.

- The New Development Bank (NDB) was establishment in 2014, with a capital of $100 billion.
- In 2024, the group further grew with the addition of new members: Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
- This is the first summit of the group following its expansion.
- Now, over 30 countries have expressed the desire to join Brics.
