- Former IAS officer Rangachari Sridharan was appointed as first chief of National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA).
- He will hold the post of chairperson of NFRA for3 years or till he attains the age of 65 years.
- Prasenjit Mukherjee has also been appointed as the full-time member of the authority.
- The NFRA is mandated to act as an independent regulator for the auditing profession.
