- Chandigarh based Young Indian golfer Shubhankar Sharma became the first Indian to win Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the year in DP World Tour Championship held in Dubai.
- He is the first Indian to win the award in the European Tour.
- While, Arjun Atwal (1995), Shiv Kapur (2005) and C Muniyappa (2009) had won the Rookie of the Year in the Asian Tour.
