- Dr Nandini Azad has become the 1st Indian woman to be elected to the board of the International Raiffeisen Union (IRU) in Germany.
- She is the president of the Indian Co-operative Network for Women (ICNW).
- IRU is the world’s oldest cooperative union and is a worldwide voluntary association of national cooperative organisations.
- The ICNW, headed by Dr. Azad, is a multi-State cooperative, including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
