- 22nd Summit of SCO Council of Heads of State was held in Samarkand.
- The SCO held its first in-person summit in Samarkand in Uzbekistan after two years.
- Uzbekistan handed over the rotating presidency of the eight-member SCO to India.
- India will host next SCO summit as a chairman of Organisation in 2023.
- The city of Varanasi has been named the first-ever SCO Tourist and Cultural Capital for the period 2022-2023 in the summit.
- It will promote tourism, cultural and humanitarian exchanges between India and the SCO member Countries.
