  • The ongoing 23rd Olympic Winter Games at the South Korean city of Pyeongchang, has been hit by an extraordinary outbreak of disease caused by Norovirus.
  • Noro virus is similar to rota virus that induces Diarrhea.
  • It infects people across all age groups and it is highly contagious.
  • It is notable that there are no preventable vaccines available against this Virus.
  • The Primary rout of transmission of this virus is oral-faecal way.
  • Virus also spreads through contaminated food and water.
  • Sudden onset of vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, headaches, fever and dehydration are the major symptoms.
