- The theme for National Road Safety Week 2020 is: ‘Bringing Change Through Youth’.
- The Road Safety Week observance is being initiated by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.
- It is organised every year in January by the National Safety Council of India since 2011.
- On 15 March 2010, India's Union Cabinet approved the National Road Safety Policy based on the Sunder Committee's recommendation.
- In 2015, India became a signatory of the Brasília Declaration, committing to reduce its road deaths rate by 50 per cent by 2020.
