- The fourth Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) summit was held in Kathmandu, capital of Nepal
- The theme of the summit was ‘Towards a Peaceful Prosperous, and Sustainable Bay of Bengal Region
- In this summit, 18-point Kathmandu declaration was unanimously adopted by the all member states presented by Prime Minister of Nepal K.P. Sharma Oli
- Sri Lanka will be conducting the 5th BIMSTEC summit with Chairmanship of Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena
