- China’s 2016 Olympic champion Liu Hong broke the world record in the 50 km race walk.
- She finished 50 Km in 3 hours, 59 minutes and 15 seconds (3:59:15) at the Chinese Race Walk Grand Prix in Huangshan of China.
- With this she become the first woman to break the 4-hour barrier in the event.
- She clipped more than five minutes from the previous record of 4:04:36 set by China’s Liang Rui at the IAAF World Race Walking Team Championships in Taicang of China in 2018.
- She now holds the world record for both the 20 km and 50 km distances, having clocked 1:24:38 in La Coruna, Spain in 2015 for the 20 km distance.
