- The Border Security Force (BSF), 'India's first line of defence' celebrated its 52nd Anniversary of Raising Day.
- The BSF is a paramilitary force responsible for guarding India's land border during peacetime and preventing transnational crime.
- Governed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the BSF stands as the world’s largest border security force.
- Due to its large size and operations, BSF is the only CAPF to have its own Air Wing, Marine Wing and Artillery Regiments.
- It is one of the five Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), currently headed by Director General K.K Sharma.
- The BSF covers of over 6,000 km of border from Pakistan to Bangladesh, across which it has 656 border outposts.
