60 MW Tuitial Hydro Power Project

  • Prime Minister has formally dedicated the 60 MW Tuitial Hydro Electric Power Project (HEPP) in Mizoram to the nation.
  • This is the biggest power project located in Mizoram and will feed the entire energy to be generated to home State, to facilitate the state achieve government of India's Mission ‘24x7 Affordable Clean Power for All’.
  • The Tuitial HEPP has been constructed as a Central Sector Project and implemented by North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO), under the administrative control of the Union Ministry of Power.
  • The State’s current demand of electricity is only 87 MW and with the additional 60 MW of electricity from the project, the State of Mizoram will now be the third power-surplus State in North East India after Sikkim and Tripura.
