- The National Cadet Corps (NCC) celebrated its 72nd Raising Day on 22 November.
- It is the largest uniformed youth organisation in the world.
- It is the youth wing of Armed Forces with its headquarters at New Delhi.
- It is a voluntary organisation which recruits cadets from high schools, higher secondary, colleges and universities all over India.
- It is a Tri-Services Organisation, comprising the Army, Navy and Air Wing.
- It was formed by the National Cadet Corps Act of 1948.
- It can be traced back to the ‘University Corps’, which was created under the Indian Defence Act 1917.
- A scheme for expansion of National Cadet Corps coverage, in Border and Coastal regions of the country was announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15 August 2020.
