It is the largest uniformed youth organisation in the world.
It is the youth wing of Armed Forces with its headquarters at New Delhi.
It is a voluntary organisation which recruits cadets from high schools, higher secondary, colleges and universities all over India.
It is a Tri-Services Organisation, comprising the Army, Navy and Air Wing.
It was formed by the National Cadet Corps Act of 1948.
It can be traced back to the ‘University Corps’, which was created under the Indian Defence Act 1917.
A scheme for expansion of National Cadet Corps coverage, in Border and Coastal regions of the country was announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15 August 2020.
