72nd Republic Day parade’s unique features

  • India’s 72nd R-Day parade have no chief guest after more than five decades.
  • Troops deployed in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands participated along with India’s first woman fighter pilot.
  • A tableau of newly formed UT of Ladakh was displayed.
  • The newly acquired multirole Rafale fighters also fly over Rajpath.
  • There was no participation of military veterans and no stunts by motorcycle daredevils.
  • Even the route of the parade has been curtailed till the National Stadium.
  • The size of marching contingents has been reduced from regular 144 to 96.
  • The number of spectators cut down to 25,000.
  • For the first time A 122 - member Bangladesh contingent participated in the parade.
