The Indian Army announced that the first Integrated Battle Groups (IBGs) concept is close to implementation and will be structured by end of next month.
IBGs are brigade-sized, agile, self-sufficient combat formations, which can swiftly launch strikes against adversary in case of hostilities.
Usually 1,500 to 4,000 soldiers make a brigade.
IBG can be both defensive and offensive.
Defensive IBGs would hold ground at vulnerable points or where enemy action is expected.
