- This particular garlic species is known for its medicinal and preservative properties.
- It is usually white or pale yellow.
- The hill altitude, the misty condition and Kodaikanal soil are responsible for its medicinal property and the long storage shelf life.
- Garlic is both a kharif (June-July) and rabi (October-November) crop in Tamilnadu.
