The Kargil War was an armed conflict between India and Pakistan that took place between May and July 1999 in the Kargil district of Kashmir and elsewhere along the Line of Control (LOC).
It is also referred to as Operation Vijay.
July 26, 2019 marks the 20th anniversary of the successful culmination of Operation Vijay against Pakistani infiltrators.
The Indian Army, supported by the Indian Air Force, forced the Pakistani forces to withdraw and won back all the high outposts.
