Bajrang Punia and Celebrated para-athlete Deepa Malik are selected for Rajiv Gandhi kehl Ratna award in 2019.
Deepa became the first Indian female athlete to win a Paralympics medal, when she won a silver at the 2016 Games.
Last year, she shifted to javelin and discus throw and created a new Asian record in Jakarta, becoming the only Indian woman to win medals in three consecutive Asian Para Games (2010, 2014, 2018).
She will become the second para-athlete to be honoured with the prestigious award after javelin thrower Devendra Jhajharia in 2017.

It is awarded annually by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
