  • Scientists treated Hussain Sagar lake water with ‘CV technology’ and found that the water met the WHO and Indian standards.
  • This chemical treatment is faster than a sewage treatment plant that uses a biological method of treatment.
  • The researchers claimed an improvement in BOD (means lower level of BOD) level and 12 quality parameters in the treated water, significant improvement in the total dissolved solids and reduction in metal ions.
BOD (BIOLOGICAL OXYGEN DEMAND)
  • It’s a measurement of amount of dissolved oxygen needed by aerobic biological micro organism to decompose the organic matter present in the water.
  • Its level indicates the quality of water or pollution level of the water.
  • lower level of BOD indicates the water's suitability to sustain the life dependent on oxygen.
