- The Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS), will be used for the 21-gun salute during the Independence Day.
- Till now, only British guns (Ordnance QF 25-pounder) were used during the annual celebrations of nationhood.
- The ATAGS is a 155 mm, 52 calibre heavy artillery gun
- It is jointly developed by the Armament Research and Development Establishment.
- The firing range of the new heavy artillery gun is 45 km, the first in the world.
